Today’s Sunday Snapshot comes from Danielle and Adam who, in January 2014, quit their jobs, sold their stuff and left San Diego, CA to fulfill their dream(s) to travel the globe. Their personal motto ‘Depart to Arrive’ (and matching tattoos) was inspired by a carving they discovered at their favorite seaside park, Sunset Cliffs. When the time came to start their trip (and their blog) it seemed like the perfect name, so the ‘to’ became a ‘2’ and Depart2Arrive.com was born. Following 3 months in India they are now in Morocco, getting ready to head to South Africa.
“After 2.5 months traveling around India we literally felt like we had arrived in a different country when we reached Rishikesh. Made famous by the Beatles in the 60’s, this peaceful enclave is widely accepted as the Yoga capital of the world and with 100’s of ashrams they aren’t in danger of losing that designation anytime soon.
During our 9-day ashram stay, following early morning yoga and silent breakfasts, we would spend our mornings exploring the small city and walking along the riverbanks. Affectionately referred to as “Mother Ganga” by the people of India, it was easy to fall in love with her as she danced, sparkling and new, through the foothills of the Himalayas. This photo is from one of our favorite spots at the Laxman Jhula Bridge, one of two bridges that connected the two banks. Some unknown passerby had hung these Tibetan Prayer Flags that quietly flapped in the wind, seemingly in time with the lapping water below. At that spot it seemed as if human nature and Mother Nature were in perfect harmony, both encouraging us to open our minds, hearts and bodies to all the beauty of the world”
